Evolution in Transportation: Incremental Steps Towards Optimization

May 3, 2018 – May 4, 2018

Fairmont Hotel, Winnipeg

The 2018 Spring Member Forum will explore opportunities to evolve the Western Canadian transportation system within the next five years. Change is complicated, especially in an industry with such a diverse stakeholder community and rich history. The meeting aims to assess the options available to advance the industry in more incremental ways versus the disruptive forces that have dominated recent discussions.

At the session, members will discuss ways some companies are changing and creating capacity in the system by rethinking transportation through innovation, technology, or a shift in practice or roles. The Forum will also look at how government is influencing change through leadership in data and visibility and policies such as the reviews on core transportation elements (pilotage, Seaway and ports).

Members will also discuss recent developments in North American rail service. Throughout the day, western Provincial Ministers will offer perspectives on the "State of Transportation across the West".

On day two, the WESTAC Leaders Council** will delve further into the subject of western Canada’s rail system by focusing on the actions that can be taken by all stakeholders in the short and long-term to increase efficiency in the rail networks.

WESTAC is proud to be celebrating its 45th annual Spring Member Forum this year in Winnipeg. In addition to the regular program, we will be hosting a special reception open to guests to mark the occasion.

** Please note: The Leaders Council is open to official representatives of member organizations. Sustaining members are allowed one additional representative.

WESTAC's room block is closed, however the hotel is doing its best to honour the group rate. Please call the Fairmont Winnipeg 1-866-540-4466 directly and quote "WESTAC" to access the best available rate.
