WESTAC Welcomes Appointment of Linda Benoit as Yukon’s Minister of Highways and Public Works

Whitehorse, YT— Premier Currie Dixon and the new Cabinet were sworn in on Saturday, November 22, 2025. The Western Transportation Advisory Council (WESTAC) congratulates the Honourable Linda Benoit on her appointment as Yukon’s Minister of Highways and Public Works. 

“WESTAC looks forward to working with Minister Benoit on shared priorities that keep Yukoners and northern supply chains moving safely and reliably,” said Lindsay Kislock, President & CEO of WESTAC. “The Department of Highways and Public Works plays a vital role in maintaining and strengthening the territory’s transportation infrastructure, which is essential to community connectivity, economic development, and trade across the western and northern corridors.”

Yukon has been a member of WESTAC for more than 20 years, bringing an important northern perspective to the Council’s work. WESTAC values this long-standing partnership and remains committed to working with the Government of Yukon on shared priorities that benefit the territory and Canada’s broader transportation system.

About Hon. Linda Benoit

The Honourable Linda Benoit was sworn in on November 22, 2025, as Yukon’s Minister of Highways and Public Works in Premier Currie Dixon’s Cabinet.

Minister Benoit is a born-and-raised Yukoner who spent her early years in the former mining town of Faro and brings a strong mix of private-sector and political experience to her role as Minister of Highways and Public Works. She has extensive behind-the-scenes government and party experience, including roles in the cabinet offices of former Yukon Party Premiers Dennis Fentie and Darrell Pasloski and executive positions within the Yukon Party. 

Deeply committed to community service, Minister Benoit volunteers widely and currently serves as treasurer for the Yukon Contractors’ Association and Equal Voice, and she has been active with organizations supporting youth, women in trades and technology, veterans’ groups, and women in STEM.
