Transport Canada is responsible for transportation policies, programs, regulation and oversight. It promotes safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible transportation. Transport Canada reports to Parliament through the Minister of Transport. Transport Canada celebrated 75 years of service on November 2nd, 2011. The needs of Canadians and the transportation industry have evolved rapidly, and Transport Canada has been there every step of the way, making adjustments in policy and operations to meet demands.
