January 02, 2024 | Category: Member News

Vancouver, BC— The Western Transportation Advisory Council (WESTAC) is pleased to announce that the Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) and Trigon Pacific Terminals have become Sustaining Members of the Council.

Sustaining members make an enhanced commitment to support WESTAC’s vision and goal of being the premier forum for transportation leaders in Western Canada.

“As the transportation industry continues to face numerous headwinds, it is becoming increasingly important to have structured ongoing collaboration with transportation partners and stakeholders. We’re grateful to have members who understand this vision. I am thrilled to have the Prince Rupert Port Authority and Trigon Pacific Terminals enhance their commitment to support WESTAC by becoming sustaining members of the Council,” said Lindsay Kislock, WESTAC’s President & CEO.

Trigon Pacific Terminals is the second terminal operator to become a Sustaining Member, following GCT’s commitment in 2021. As a multi-commodity bulk and liquefied gas export terminal at the Port of Prince Rupert with a skilled workforce and proven operational excellence, it is an important link between Western Canadian commodity producers and their Asia-Pacific customers.

“As a bulk export terminal with a clear vision to be a part of Canada’s energy transition, we believe in the importance of working together with others in the transportation sector to advance issues of common interest. This is what WESTAC delivers and why we are proud to be a Sustaining Member,” said Rob Booker, CEO of Trigon Pacific Terminals.

Prince Rupert Port Authority is the second port authority in this membership tier. The Port provides shippers with unparalleled speed, reliability, and reach in moving their cargo between Asian and North American markets.

"As one of Canada’s most strategic gateways for trade in the Indo-Pacific region, the Port of Prince Rupert is a vital link to key global markets. We greatly value the opportunity to collaborate through WESTAC to strengthen and expand Canada’s supply chains,” said Shaun Stevenson, President and CEO of the Prince Rupert Port Authority.

Other Sustaining Members include the Governments of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan; Transport Canada, BNSF, CN, CPKC, GCT Global Container Terminals and the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.
