Vancouver, BC – April 24, 2017 – The Western Transportation Advisory Council (WESTAC) is pleased to welcome International Longshore Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 502 as the newest member of Western Canada’s premier forum for transportation leaders. The Board of Directors approved the application earlier this month.

The Official Representative will be Tom Doran, President and the Alternate will be Aaron Hoolsema, Vice President.

“We look forward to participating in a forum where we can hear about issues that affect our members’ work. The forums are an opportunity for workers to share their on-the-ground perspective on moving goods in the western transportation system. WESTAC is a unique organization in Canada where employers, unions and governments interact positively and collaboratively,” says Tom Doran, President ILWU Local 502.

“One of WESTAC’s unique values is the diversity of its membership and the insight that diversity brings to conversations about the competitiveness of our supply chains. We look forward to ILWU Local 502’s perspective regarding operations at lower mainland terminals,” says Oksana Exell, WESTAC CEO.
