Finding the Balance: The Roles of Regulation in Transportation

Oct 20, 2014 – Oct 21, 2014

Calgary, AB

Regulation is necessary when competition and market forces are unable to achieve the economic, safety, security, environmental or social objectives we set for ourselves. Rules and regulations play an essential role in today’s society and particularly in the transportation industry. There are thousands of regulations from all levels of government and quasi-government organizations that apply to different parts of the industry. Finding the balance is important for the success of today’s supply chains.

Members will discuss the true costs of regulation and how to optimize regulatory measures to enhance supply chain excellence. Sessions will look at regulatory successes, failures and opportunities using current examples. The Forum will include an update on the statutory review of the Canada Transportation Act, recently announced by Federal Transport Minister Lisa Raitt.
